/ Floating Houses

The projects re-interpret the idea of “architecture of survival” as explained by Yona Friedman. In the 1970s, the Hungarian-born French architect enhanced an architecture which would try to modify the way human beings use space and objects, in contrast with the classical way of adapting everything to the human purpose. A new Survival charter instead of the Athens Charter! Friedman proclaims.
The floating house project, re-considers Friedman’s section where an excavation creates a liveable space without the need for any expensive building structures. This concept is transposed into the city, in the Naviglio canal in Milan, using the banks as existing structures for floating temporary houses on the metropolitan waterways.
